6 JBLM Area Parks to Enjoy with Your Family

The JBLM area is full of families with kids of all ages from all across the world. JBLM is home to military members and their families and the families in this area love to get outdoors and have a blast. There are several parks across the area that our JBLM families return to time and time again for the extreme fun-factors at each. Joint Base Lewis–McChord is one of the most exciting and family-oriented areas in Washington and is the perfect place to settle comfortably into a home.

 

The following is a list of the very best parks to visit in the JBLM area. Military members and their families live in countless neighborhoods within the reaches of the JBLM area, so we will include parks near and some a little farther for our families who live farther off-base. Hawk’s Landing in Tehaleh

Hawk’s Landing is like a park out of a dream. The park’s main feature is the towering, caged tunnel systems that sit high above the ground. Children can safely walk among the treetops in this innovative, exciting and brand-new installment in the Tehaleh community within the boundaries of Bonney Lake in Pierce County.

 

Fort Steilacoom Park

For Steilacoom Park is near the base and has many things to offer. There are trails, stones to climb, a fort-style playground, an off-leash dog park, water to walk around, bird watching and ball fields. This park has been a part of the military community of Steilacoom for years on end. There are 340 acres to explore and the park sees over 1 million visitors per year. Visit Fort Steilacoom Park for a relaxing day with the family near JBLM.

 

Loyalty Park in Sumner

Loyalty Park in Sumner is home to towering trees and countless areas for the kids to play. Kids of all ages can enjoy the variety of play toys in the jungle gym areas and you can relax on a comfy bench nearby. Stroll through the shaded paths of whimsical, thick three trunks that dot the lawn of the Sumner, WA park.

Point Defiance Park

Point Defiance Park has it all – the water, forest, gardens, history, a dog park, trails, wildlife and even a zoo and aquarium! No matter what your family wants to do for the day, you can find it at Point Defiance Park. Check out the chill vibes of Owen Beach – newly renovated, attend events at the history museum or stroll through the flower gardens and nearby tranquil pond. Bell Hill Community Park of Dupont

Bell Hill Community Park of Dupont is the quintessential cute little park. There are lots of trails, picnic areas, wooded areas to explore, a jungle gym and super cool downhill slides. At this park, you can enjoy the quiet of nature while staying close to home. It’s always worth the short trip from your JBLM area home to this nice neighborhood park.

 

Pioneer Park in Puyallup

Pioneer Park is in the heart of Puyallup. This park is set where all the action happens in this busy town. We all know you can Do the Puyallup just a few blocks away at the Washington State Fair and Events Center, but at Pioneer Park, you can enjoy access to the large Library, giant chess games, a rose garden, great food at the Farmer’s Market, make a splash at the splash grounds and play for hours on the castle-like structure of the jungle gym.

Your kids will be begging to go back to this fun-filled area with all the best amenities within a block or two. This park is lovely year-round and is especially amazing in the spring when the countless cherry blossoms bloom. Spend your next sunny day at this unforgettable city park!

 

Yelm City Park and Splash Pad

The Yelm City Park and Splash Pad is one of the coolest places to visit any time of year, but especially so in the summer. The splash pad is bright, colorful and crazy fun and your family will have the time of their lives splashing around in the cool water. The park also offers a great playground with rock wall climbing, grass to run and play and towering jungle gym features. Your family will have a blast at the JBLM local park!
